Aggie needs your help…the “save aggie” campaign…

Hello Friends. It’s been a sad few days around my house. For all that follow me you already know that I have two adorable kittens that I am completely and utterly in love with (and perhaps slightly obsessed with). Well my precious orange Agamemnon “Aggie” has been injured and she needs major surgery…the kind of surgery I cannot afford.

(This is the day I brought Aggie home)

To start from the beginning…it appears that Archie the bad kitten knocked a box fan over onto Aggie (the now injured kitten). Archie had been jumping on the fan and knocking it over so the fan was placed up on a chair so he couldn’t get to it. Wrong. We’re thinking Archie jumped up onto the kitchen table and then onto the fan causing it to fall off the chair and onto Aggie. Basically a loud boom was heard followed by a kitten meow. Upon checking it out the fan was on the floor, Archie the bad kitten was on the now empty chair, and Aggie was limping away.

I thought that Aggie’s leg was just bruised at first. She didn’t cry any more but was limping. When I felt the leg and extended it slightly she didn’t cry or hiss. She even climbed the stairs and got into bed with me as usual that night. The next morning she was still limping and I called the vet to check with them. We decided I’d wait the day to see if she stopped limping. Later yesterday afternoon I noticed that she was worse and was in fact dragging that part of her body,  not just limping.

An hour later we were in the vet’s office and an hour after that the vet confirmed a horrible break. Here is the x-ray. Left side = normal hip. Right side = OUCH!

My vet (who is an absolutely wonderful awesome vet and person) Dr. DJ at Stafford Animal Hospital said there was nothing that she could do so she referred Aggie out to a surgeon. Today she called with the bad news. After consulting with the surgeon…there are two fractures and surgery is a must. There is no chance at all that Aggie will recover without surgery and she will be in pain until she has it.

I cried like a  baby for almost an hour. The very sad truth…I cannot afford the surgery. The amount? $3,000 which includes the surgery, X-rays, visit, etc. It seems like an insurmountable amount of money for a 3.5 pound kitten.

My heart is breaking because…she’s only 4 months old. She has years and years ahead of her. Years of playing, and scratching, and biting me. Years of giving me sleepy good morning purrs. Years of cuddling with her Archie the bad kitten. Years of cuddling with Bear dog, much to his chagrin. But I cannot afford to fix her. I feel helpless and sad and it’s a horrible feeling.

A few friends suggested I start a fundraiser…and so I have done just that. I’m hoping to fundraise the $3,000 through Go Fund Me so we can “Save Aggie”! I feel ridiculous asking for donations…but if it will help Aggie I will do it. Here is the link to the Save Aggie Fund. Anything at all would be so appreciated!

As an FYI…if you donate at the $250 amount I will do a special photo session of your pet for you if you live in the N. Virginia/DC area!!!

I promise to keep everyone updated (probably too updated) with pictures and her progress. Here are a few more photos of Aggie.
