wow! what a powerful statement! it kind of smacks me in the face when i really sit and contemplate it. how many times do we say we love someone yet at the same time insist that we know what is best for them, what they should do with their lives. we pressure our children to be a certain something in life, we tell others who they can love, date, and marry. we interject our advice when it’s not wanted. we push our opinions on those we love and then at times berate them when they don’t live up to our standards. for just a few minutes stop and contemplate love with no expectations. it might just change your world and change your relationships.
highlights of the week:
* i learned this week that Skype can be an awesome tool for client meetings when you just can’t arrange a time to meet up. i also learned that i can put on a nice shirt with my pj bottoms and no one can tell!
* last week was week two of my photography classes in arlington. we discussed depth of field in great depth. lol. and talked a lot about focus and how to control it. there were a few blank stares with students but for the most part…i think that they’re catching on. i really love teaching and i’m thinking about offering classes down here in the stafford/fredericksburg area. would anyone be interested in such a wonderful thing?
* i have discovered that bear does not like my office floor to be free from clutter. he and his toys must be present at all times. so cute!
* i received a largish print order from my favorite lab- pro dpi. and guess what? these prints are personal work that i printed for me!!! every time i look at them i get all excited. they take me back to where i was when i took them. they make me feel all warm and fuzzy and happy. oh man…the power of a photo. i’m super excited to get these on the walls of my office!!
* so excited to book a june wedding at perigeaux winery in maryland. welcome jessica and neil…can’t wait for your wedding day..it’s going to be beautiful.
* on friday i met with elizabeth the awesome event coordinator at stevenson ridge and we chatted all about weddings and life. i love this venue and hope to work here a lot more. the venue is gorgeous and the staff is spot on amazing. i photographed chris and marli’s fall wedding here last year and it is one of my very favorite weddings to date. i also really love the driveway into stevenson ridge…it’s so pretty.
* on a very exciting note for me…my house is all clean! yay!! i love having clients over because it makes it a priority to have a spic and span house. on saturday we had a lovely dinner date and album meeting with my clients turned awesome friends- brianne and joey. we ate dinner, sipped on yummy fresh grapefruit martinis, and chatted all about their wedding album. so excited to work on getting it all together for them this week with every single one of brianne’s favorite photos…it’s going to be a big album!!
* when i was organizing my office on saturday i went to reach for a paperclip only to find that they had all been strung together. hmmm….so much for quickly grabbing a paperclip…thanks to savannah for helping out!
*and last but not least- yesterday on my fb page i posted a link to this article “you just broke your child. congratulations.” it’s quite powerful. i urge every parent to read it (moms and dads) and then let’s start a conversation about it. what are your thoughts?
