Good morning lovelies! It’s been awhile since a Monday Madness post. I woke up this morning and decided it was tine for a comeback. I tell you this year has started off in a whirlwind and continues in the same fashion. That is…moving fast and sporadically with no particular direction in mind, but sure to always knock me from where I’m standing and have me questioning everything. Ahhhh. I’m like….
Dear Stress, Can we please break up? Sincerely, Amber Kay <3
When life gets tough, when our ground seems shaky (like a never ending earthquake), when the tidal moves in to take us under, when we question our decisions, when we see our loved ones suffering, when we hear of others journeys being ended much too soon…it can be very difficult to know what to do or what direction to move in. After you’ve grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the initial fire I call time out – Time for a regroup. Part of a regroup is taking care of ourselves and our hearts and heads. We are of no use to ourselves, our children, our friends, our lovers if we’re so depleted we have nothing left to give. It’s time to sit and take care of ourselves for a moment or two. Time to reaccess our priorities. Time to heal our hearts. Time to make changes.
I’ve been doing lots of thinking. I extinguished a few fires first…then got to the regrouping and thinking part. Thinking about what I want, what I need to change. It brings me to this little 3 Rules of Life I found while randomly searching on the internet.
Three Simple Rules in Life
1. If you do not go after what you want, you’ll never have it.
2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no.
3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.
So I’m stepping forward!
One BIG CHANGE that I’m very excited about- I’ve decided to completely separate my work with High School Seniors from all of my Wedding work. You will no longer find any senior work here on this blog. I’ve started a separate website Amber Kay Seniors and I’m so very excited about it! I’ve also started an Instagram account for just my seniors @amberkayseniors. Please follow along on both!
Another thing I’m working on is really paying attention to is what brings a smile to my face. What makes me feel beautiful in the eye of the storm. What little things can I do for myself that make me feel good. This may sounds silly but again…when we’re so very busy meeting everyone else’s needs- our children, our clients, our bosses, our friends, our partners- we can lose sight of ourselves and stop taking care of our own well being. So as part of my stepping forward I’m going to make the effort to afford myself a little time here and there to make sure I’m taking care of myself. Doing the little things that make me feel good.
Three things that make me smile, make me feel good- 1) Smelling good! I’m so in love with my CoCo Mademoiselle Chanel perfume I got for Christmas. A little spritz instantly brightens my mood. 2) These glittery Kate Spade earrings. They’re so fun and festive and mood lifting. They add a little pep to my step. And yes I wear them even when they don’t match the outfit I have on. I may be looking like one of the “People of Walmart” in regards to my outfit but look at my ears and I’m all glittery unicorn! 3) Painted nails. It is true I would much rather have a professional manicure because that feels amazing. However when that’s not in the budget I am just as good with painting my own nails. Any shade will do but I definitely tend to choose bold or dark colors.
What do you do that makes you feel beautiful? What adds some pep to your step? Share your secrets with me my friends!!
With love and with wishes for an amazing Monday– Amber kay
