janna and darrell were married in san francisco on an absolutely perfect october friday afternoon. seriously it was a perfect day! the sun was shining and it was almost 80 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. when janna told me she was getting married earlier in the year i quickly checked my calendar to make sure we found a day that would work for all of us. all of us meaning her and darrell and me. haha. well that may sound funny but with a wedding photographers schedule the fall weekends quickly book up…and this was a wedding i could not miss. you see janna is my closest, dearest friend in this world. i knew that i had to be a part of her wedding day and i had to photograph it.
early on i knew that i would need help with the photography because how can you be in a wedding and be the only photographer? you can’t. so i searched and searched for the kind of photographer that would provide darrell and janna with beautiful images, be someone fun to work with, and be down for a bit of an odd second shooting position. i found the perfect photographer in megan kuethen! megan was my “right hand woman” all day and i couldn’t have pulled this off without her. she photographed darrell getting ready, the wedding party photos that i am in, the whole ceremony, and of course lots of other images throughout the day. thank you megan so much for your kindness, professionalism, generosity, gorgeous images, and smile.
janna…you are an absolutely stunning bride! i love you with my whole heart and am so thankful to have been a part of your and darrell’s wedding day. thank you for being you. when you told me you were getting married i couldn’t not (great use of double negatives there) be your photographer as well as your bride’s maid. i guess i am a bit of a control freak as well. lol. but really…i just wanted to gift you and darrell something special. something from my heart and made with my hands. i hope i did that with these images. i love you! enjoy.
what an amazing dress! oh my goodness!!! the running joke of the day was that it wasn’t “too much” at all. just a simple beach wedding dress. seriously though…stunning.
hello gorgeous ring! darrell did a good job on this one.
janna’s hair and makeup (as well as the bridesmaids) was done by the fabulous lea buehler of special event hair and makeup. she did a fabulous job for all of us!
what a gorgeous san francisco day!
before we left for the beach i had to stop in the lobby of the laurel inn for a few pictures. love! (if you’re ever in san fran check them out. chris the manager is fantastic!)
getting ready to see her groom for the first time. they decided to see each other before the ceremony and wanted to do it on the beach…their whole reason for getting married in san francisco.
both megan and i photographed the first look…this is megan’s view of janna walking to meet darrell. (of course there i am too!)
my view…
and there’s darrell waiting for his stunning bride! and look at that view. hello golden gate bridge.
look at that smile!
east beach in san francisco turned out to be a fantastic choice!
before the ceremony we also did a few wedding party photos. these next 3 images completely crack me up!
hello random biker dude who decided to bike through our photos ; )
i’m in love with these two women! they are beautiful both inside and out!
darrell is looking rather handsome…and looking so happy!
one word…stunning! look at those eyes and that smile. ahhhh. janna…you take my breath away.
ceremony time
solace and paz the boxers were also a part of the wedding. janna has said many times that one of the reasons she loves darrell so much is because of how much he loves her dogs. so cute!
look at these smiles for the first dance..
lots of dancing fun for the whole evening!
the bottom left image is me being me…laughing so big with my mouth wide open. i have to thank adam for capturing these dancing shots that i’m in. this is why when i’m photographing a wedding i don’t start dancing. be thankful.
